MEET OUR DIRECTOR

  Mr. Sayer serves as an active adjudicator and clinician for the MSHSAA as well as Music in the Parks and the National
Association of Teachers of Singing. He served as an All-State Choir Coordinator for ten years and as 9-10 Grade Honor
Choir Coordinator for three years. He currently directs a church choir as well as serves as organist at three churches in the
Marshall area.

   Mr. Sayer is the recipient of the SFCC Teacher Achievement Award, the Distinguished Service Award from the MSHSAA,
the Outstanding District Director Award from the Missouri Choral Directors Assoc., the Kansas State High School Activities
Association Service and Leadership Award, Marshall High School Teacher of the Year award in 2006 and 2010, the
Sharon Murphy Award for Dedication to the Profession of Teaching, the Missouri Fine Arts Academy Teacher Appreciation
Award, the UMKC Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs Honor Award, and the UMKC University Scholars Award 1981-82.

   Mr. Sayer is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education, the
  Missouri Choral Directors Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the National Pastoral Musicians
  Association, the American Guild of Organists, the Royal College of Organists, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Omicron Delta
  Kappa, and Pi Kappa Lambda. This will be Mr. Sayer's 17th year at the podium of the Marshall Community Chorus.

  Ron Sayer brings over 40 years of experience and knowledge to the 
podium of the Marshall Community Chorus. Having taught music at all
levels of education, he retired from full-time teaching and as the Music
Arts Coordinator at State Fair Community College in July of 2019. He
currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Music at State Fair Community
College, and Missouri Valley College.
  He served as the National Coordinator for Community Choruses for the
  American Choral Directors Association from 2010-2015. He has a
special interest in the role of life-long singing and the effects of aging on
the singing voice. He was able to continue his research into this area in
July of 2022 when he was selected to be a delegate to the first-ever 
Summit on Voice Pedagogy
held in conjunction with the Aspen Summer
Music Festival, and led by opera legend Renee Fleming.
